Hello... Again.
This is the third "first" post that this blog has had during its lifetime. I think this first post shall be more enduring than the others. I've changed this blog into a musing/ranting place. I can guarantee that not everything that will be read on these posts you will agree with. I'm hoping you will understand however, that this is a means of expression. Yes, I have a journal and I do write in it frequently, but those are personal thoughts. This blog, I have decided, will become my place to talk about DIY venture, new recipes I've tried, books I've read, movies I've seen, and maybe even some interesting things I've learned from my classes or from studying.
I suppose in a sense this is how I am trying to control my procrastination. Or at least a little bit. So I'll dive right into my first post by telling you about three different things today (just because I'm feeling a bit wild). The first thing I'll talk about is the buffalo chicken quesadilla recipe I tried about a month ago now, the film Django Unchained, and The Great Gatsby.
Alright, so first things first. I cannot take ANY credit for the buffalo chicken quesadilla recipe. I found it here: http://www.jocooks.com/main-courses/poultry-main-courses/buffalo-chicken-quesadillas/. These quesadillas are DELICIOUS! My only tip when making this recipe is use a little more cheese (and make sure it's got some nip to it!) and buffalo sauce than you think is necessary. My first batch came out quite bland, but my parents, who I made them for, have sensitive taste buds when it comes to spicy food and even they thought it was bland! So I guess the moral of the story here is you can't OVERDO it when it comes to the sauce.
Next up, Django Unchained. So basically everyone knows that Quentin Tarantino directed this one. Well, guilty confession: this is my first Tarantino film... EVER. While I didn't mind the story line, I really thought that the gore was a bit much. I'm not sensitive or anything when it comes to blood, but it was a bit ridiculous. Overall though, I really enjoyed the movie, which, to try and not give anything away, is about a slave in the southern USA who becomes a freeman and partner to a first generation German-American (white) man. This German, name Dr. Schultz, trains the former slave, named Django (the "d" is slient!!) to become a bounty hunter. All in all a good film if you can get past the part where people are flying like 8 feet after being shot from a pistol.
And finally, The Great Gatsby! As you can see to your left, my reading list has been updated. Being a student I have very little time to do any reading for enjoyment. That being said, this week I have a break from university (although it's not REALLY a break) and can take a little bit of time to do some reading for myself. I have about two years worth of magazines sitting on my bookcase, but I'd rather read this classic which has been on my list for years. I'm only about 10 pages in, so I cannot comment, but expect a review in the later days.
In addition to that, I think that I may put out a few album reviews at a later date. The ones that immediately spring to mind will be Taylor Swift's "Red" and Ed Sheeran's "+," both of which are the deluxe versions. I might even get to talking photography stuff with you, my lovely followers, because it has been a developing passion of mine in the last few months. I'm not very good at it yet, but I do hope to get better, and maybe even sell a few snaps some day (maybe).
But for now that's all I've got. Hope you're having a lovely Monday. Happy President's Day to any Americans who chance to read this, and Happy Family Day to any Canadians who are celebrating this holiday in their province. If there are any holidays going on elsewhere for people who read this, happy that to you too! :)
Good night and joy be with you all!
J
